Developmental Services Resource Centre – Waterloo Region (DSRC) works with parents and primary care providers in learning practical ways to prevent unwanted behaviours. We focus our efforts before the unwanted behaviour occurs. This is often a more effective approach than using consequences or punishment.
In addition to in-home consultations, DSRC offers a range of workshops throughout the year which are advertised in our newsletter and highlighted in the “Training & Workshops” section of our website.
In partnership with the Waterloo Region District School Board, students may be enrolled in a socio-sexuality education program. The program includes personal safety skills and sexual assault prevention (primarily for younger children); relationship education using the Circle’s Program™ (primarily for students in Grade 6 and above); and sexuality (for secondary school aged clients). Referrals for this are coordinated by the Board’s Special Education Department.
